Village Home – Casa Encantada

The large L-shaped extra garden area provides access from two walkways. The focus for the outdoor living areas (both the garden and the main courtyard) is a blend of both organic and traditional architectural and design elements. The remodel of the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms uses talavera tiles and other traditional Mexican materials and lighting.

Utilization of the extra garden space for secure, dry storage of water toys and bicycles became the primary focus. The long kayaks and paddleboards presented a particular challenge. They are now stored horizontally in a tiled-roof structure designed to complement the main casa. An outdoor shower with foot shower and bench complete the north side. A dining terrace with planting pockets and lighted wall nicho occupy the south side in front of the kitchen.

Village Home – Casa Abierta

The floor plan, coupled with an extra garden space, takes full advantage of the indoor/outdoor living conditions. This large, cantera-clad courtyard includes a pool, covered bbq cook center and bench, as well as a small fireplace for winter social events. The stacked-stone accent wall, with custom tile mural, frames the arched entry, proudly standing over the inner courtyard. The property wall on the estuary side was lowered and capped with cantera, and a custom wrought iron railing was installed, allowing for views to the water and mountains.
